Barrier Resources has assembled a strategic portfolio of fourteen exploration licences covering a large tract of the fertile stratigraphy and structures of the highly-mineralised Willyarma Supergroup within the Broken Hill Block. The portfolio contains a great number of historic mines and mineral occurrences, many of which have experienced minimal modern exploration.

 

Since 2017 Barrier has a compiled a comprehensive database of previous work and carried out extensive exploration programmes comprising geochemical (soil and rock chip) sampling, geophysical (IP, ground magnetics) surveys, geological mapping, mineralogical and petrographic studies and diamond drilling.

This work has defined extensive tracts of previously unrecognised Broken Hill Type lode rocks and identified multiple targets for further work. Further drilling is planned for Thackaringa and other targets have drill sites prepared and drilling approvals granted:

Broken Hill-type Pb-Zn sulfides
Mainly stratiform, likely syngenetic/ diagenetic (BHML), to stratabound, remobilised/ syn-metamorphic (Parnell Fm, parts BHML).
Pb-Zn-Ag (-Cu)
Massive to semi-massive and disseminated Pb-Zn-Fe (-Cu) sulfides, hosted by siliceous gahnite- and/or garnet-rich (-garnetite) lodes or impersistent lode horizons. May be associated with BIF (Fe oxide facies), more typically with Fe-Mn silicate facies (garnet, pyroxene, pyroxenoid rocks). Confined to BH Group, especially Hores Gneiss position (BHML) and Parnell Fm, although Pinnacles deposit is interpreted as Cues Fm/ Thackaringa Gp.
Silver King type Pb-Zn sulfides
Stratabound, likely remobilised/ epigenetic/ syn-metamorphic BHT source (~BHT Pb isotopes).
Pb-Zn-Ag (-Cu, W)
Disseminated and semi-massive Pb-Zn-Fe sulfides in grossly concordant quartz bodies, disseminations in amphibolite. Identified in Silver King (± Parnell) Formations in BH Group in Mount Robe Domain.
Ettlewood type metacarbonate Pb-Zn-W
Mainly stratiform, likely syngenetic/ diagenetic, to stratabound, remobilised/ synmetamorphic.
Pb-Zn-Ag-Cu-W
Disseminated to semi-massive and irregular Pb-Zn-Fe sulfides and scheelite in bedded metacarbonate (calc-silicate). Confined to Ettlewood CS Member, BH Group only.
Corruga-type calc-silicate Pb-Zn sulfides, W
Stratabound, likely remobilised/ syn-metamorphic
W-Pb-Cu
Disseminated Pb-Fe sulfides and scheelite in irregular calc-silicate zones within amphibolites, in BH Group. Common as minor occurrences, have BHT affinities.
Diamond Jubilee type Cu-Au
Stratabound/ transgressive. Likely early metamorphic Au-sulfide lodes (~veins).
Cu-Au
Disseminated sulfides in early, semi-concordant, high metamorphic grade quartz-sulfide lodes (~veins), folded and sheared by later deformation, and spatially associated with Fe formations. Confined to/ extensive within Diamond Jubilee area.
Mount Robe type base metals-fluorite veins
Epigenetic, fault-controlled veins.
Pb-Ag-Zn-Cu
Disseminated to blebby Pb-Zn-Fe sulfides in sizeable late brittle fault-controlled quartz-fluorite-sulfide veins. Well-developed in Mount Robe area. Au potential TBC.
Gold-bearing quartz veins
Epigenetic veins.
Au (-Cu)
Late, white-grey quartz veins with disseminated pyrite and elevated Au. Potential unknown due to limited Au assaying.
Great Eastern/ type Cu-(Au)
Stratabound to transgressive. Epigenetic, structurally controlled, post-high grade metamorphism.
Fe-Cu (-Au)
Disseminated to semi-massive Fe-Cu sulfides in vein/ breccia/ stockwork or lode forms, with elevated Au. Typical structural control in shears and dilational zones. K-Fe alteration. Syn- to post-D3 probable.
Sisters type Cu (-Au, Co)
Stratabound in quartz-magnetite BIF.
Fe-Cu (-Au, Co)
Disseminated to semi-massive Fe-Cu sulfides in quartz-magnetite BIF.
Thackaringa-type Pb-Ag veins
Epigenetic veins
Pb-Zn-Ag
Thick to narrow (<0.3-2m), late, quartz-siderite-galena-(sphalerite) veins in brittle structures as shoots and stockworks overprinting shearing in retrograde schist zones (eg Umberumberka, Thackaringa, Apollyon Valley).
Copper-bearing quartz veins
Epigenetic veins
Cu
White-grey quartz veins with disseminated or blebby Fe and Cu sulfides, rare Au. Common but uneconomic.
Hores type W in disseminations, veins, tourmalinite.
Epigenetic, stratabound to transgressive veins
W
Disseminated scheelite in qz-musc-tourmaline veins, in stratabound tourmalinite alteration (metasediments), and in Potosi-type gneiss.
U-bearing quartz-sulfide veins

U
Quartz-Fe sulfide veins in brittle structures. Poorly known.
Waukeroo type Sn veins
Pegmatite veins with Sn .

Disseminated cassiterite in very coarse quartz-feldspar pegmatite veins.
